I have run a number of tests to see how well the antivirus software of both brands protects a PC against common online threats. In this article, I put Avira and Bitdefender head-to-head to find out which antivirus is the best. It's typically on sale, and if you're a student with multiple devices it's pretty easy to use. All in all, Bitdefender is a good all-rounder, even from my limited experience with antivirus. I usually always praise customer service out of sincerity, but this seriously was a great service. A nice guy called Leonard (I think?) immediately got back to me and offered to refund my subscription so I could buy the premium at no extra cost. Otherwise it's pretty cool, if not slightly hard to use I originally brought one of the cheapest subscriptions for £20, but when I realised the premium one was on offer a few weeks later, I asked to upgrade. I don't use VPNs that often, but I got it with the deal so it helps with US Netflix in the UK and ordering home when abroad. You can set parental controls, and create accounts to prevent any mix-ups. The dashboard allows you to choose what parts of the service certain devices can use, and works on most laptops and phones. I got an offer on a 10 device subscription, and it's allowed me to set up my technophobic parents without much hassle.

In fact I barely ever see it come up unless something tries to download something on my computer. Maybe I'm just lucky, but it fulfils the basic purpose without being too intrusive. I've had no issues with ransomware attacks or trojan horses.
The antivirus, although this is the first I own myself, works absolutely fine. Bitdefender has done just that so far it barely ever interrupts me and I've only had a few issues with it blocking programs I needed to make exceptions for. I'm not too worried about internet safety, so I wanted a flexible and fairly mild software that didn't block every site I checked. Been using Bitdefender for about 7 months now.
